Hi, I’m looking to sublet a room in my home. An apt in a downtown triplex I’ve lived in for 8+ years now. I hope to find someone who will live in the space with respect and care. I’m pretty interested in keeping up the place, keeping it clean and in excellent repair, and trying to do my best to live ecologically.

I’d consider a mature and responsible student, would welcome a grounded professional.

And a concern of mine from past roommate situations is i don’t want to end up playing parent to someone who’s not really taking care of things.

I was hoping to find someone for a year starting now, it’s available now. It’s late in the month now though so other options are on the table.

I’m a 39 year ancient professional illustrator who works from home most of the time. I’m pretty simple going most of the time, i like to talk about the fascinating stuff i just heard on radio lab or a Ted talk but i also spend a fantastic deal of time shutting myself away with work or spending time at my partners apt.

I have a grey very friendly indoor cat named Oscar – If you have a cat, I would entertain another but only if they get along well with oscar, and you take care of your responsibilities regarding cleaning and food.

The apt is a nice largish 6 and half on the top floor of a triplex, in Cartier Sainte-Marie/Saint-Mary’s Ward montreal

The room for rent is just off the kitchen. It’s 10 ft x 12 ft – aprox 120 square feet in all.

Soft pine wood floors, lots of shelving, & is largely unfurnished. I might be able to provide a single mattress in a pinch for a small term stay.

There are 2 closets and one outlet. It gets lots of afternoon sunlight – the best view in the house i reckon, via a large window with a southwest view of a lush backyard filed with trees and a large flowering magnolia.

The kitchen and dining area is in a large double room with back door out onto a huge balcony on the back of the building. And a small living room with a balcony off the front of the house as well. Both get a lot of sun.

Bathroom has an ancient tub with shower.

I’m in the process of doing some minor renovations of the plaster in parts of the house and painting, but it’s in pretty excellent shape over all, mostly original ancient molding and floors.

Rent for the room is $350 a month + bills

hydro is cheep in the summer, more in the winter as the house is heated by electric base boards.

Evened out over the year the monthly average is about $50

internet is about $21 a month.

There is a washing machine; and a line out back in the summer – room enough to hang things inside in the winter and also Laundromat just half a block from the apt to dry/wash clothes.

The Papineau Metro station a 5-minute walk from the house, several buses are close at hand including the sherbrooke 24.

The apt is also walking distance to most of the Plateau, Downtown, Ancient Montreal, UQAM, McGill, the Village, and Hochelaga. It’s really convenient to get to most places in Montreal.

pleased apartment hunting, if your interested write me and tell me a few things about yourself & how long a stay you’re hoping for. I mostly speak English but would not mind living with a francophone if they don’t mind. :)

I could use the practice.
